Should Teenagers Have Credit Cards?
When used responsibly, a credit card can be useful for emergencies or buying things online. But if you run up a bigger bill than you can repay, a credit card can get you into lots of trouble.
So what do you think? Is a credit card essential for your survival? Or is it better for teenagers to totally avoid the lure of paying with plastic?

Anthony, aged 15: No, I don't think teenagers should have credit cards. They would max it out in no time. It would only take about a week because teens have no control. When you have money, you spend it.
Victoria, aged 18: Yes! I think teens need credit cards because of emergencies. When I was flying back from a trip to France, I missed my flight and needed a credit card to secure a new reservation. I definitely think there are emergencies where a credit card is necessary.
Chase, aged 15: I think teenagers should have their own credit cards at a reasonable age - probably around 16. I think anyone who can handle their schoolwork should be able to handle and manage a credit card.
Samantha, aged 17: I think it depends on the person. In an emergency, it would be good to have one. Overall, though, I don't think it is a good idea, because I don't think they would use it just for emergencies.
CJ, aged 18: Teenagers should only use the card if they need something and don't have cash. I have a card, but I hardly ever use it. But there are times when I do need it, like when I have to pay for something on the Internet. The limit on my card £200, so that helps me stay out of trouble.
