1-Day Workshop
This one-day event gives teenagers an exciting introduction to the possibilities of entrepreneurship. Students will enjoy games and activities as they learn about the characteristics or attributes of successful entrepreneurs and the seven basic steps of a business start-up. They will assess their own skills, talents and interests that could be used to start a business and discover that entrepreneurship is a genuine career option for the future. Using a unique hands-on approach, this challenging workshop instils an outlook and mindset that encourages students to think entrepreneurially, have high aims and work diligently to achieve success.
This exciting day culminates in a mini-competition in which students work in teams to create and present a unique new product and business concept. If the school has a specialism, this competition will focus on businesses related to that specialism (eg: Art students might develop a greeting card company, while language students might concentrate on a translation or writing service, or science students might be asked to invent a product that helps the environment). 3-Day Course This three-day course gives teenagers an in-depth look at business ownership. Participants go home with an exciting new title of president or CEO of their own company, a real working business plan, business cards, flyers, and marketing plans ready to collect revenue from their first entrepreneurial ventures.
Students enjoy group activities, case studies, games, competitions, and special speakers. They also participate in the YoungBiz Business Plan Challenge, where they present their business plans to businesspeople and compete for venture capital.
Teenagers develop skills in negotiation, sales, customer service, problem solving, networking, time management, record keeping, and public speaking. Using a unique hands-on, real-world approach, this challenging course instils an outlook and mindset in young people that will help them discover financial opportunities now and throughout life, as well as prepare them for future careers.
