This one-day workshop for younger teenagers introduces the basic concepts of managing money wisely. Students gain a fast-paced insight into the ways in which our thinking about money is shaped by the world around us, especially by advertising. This workshop features exciting small group activities that allow students to explore the importance of making smart money decisions even while they are young. Students go home with a new understanding of the possible long-term effects of their financial decisions, as well as the inspiration to handle money more responsibly.

Every student will:

• Be introduced to various forms of currency used throughout history
• Think about why money is so important in our society
• Begin to appreciate the importance of money management
• Consider the difference between needing something and simply wanting it
• Discuss the affect of advertising on financial decision making
• Evaluate their own ability to make wise decisions with money
• Be inspired to handle money more responsibly

Jump Start to Money alignment:
In addition to teaching the Financial Capability component of Enterprise Education, this 1-day programme contributes to the Finance Strand of PSHE for Key Stage 3, as well as Key Skills and Wider Key Skills, and supports the aims of Every Child Matters.
